Rest deeply. Return shining.
Long weekends by the sea for women who carry a lot. Slow down, open up at your own pace, and bring something real home with you.
“I expected it to be relaxing. I did not expect it to also be so energizing.”

A group of hummingbirds is called a shimmer.
Hummingbirds are small, and they are anything but fragile. They fly thousands of miles, hover in place, and carry what they gather from flower to flower, keeping a whole garden alive. They’re strong, bright, and graceful all at once.
When they gather, the light catches all of them together. That’s the other meaning I love: to shimmer is to shine, softly and in your own way.
These weekends are for women who have been holding a lot, so they can gather somewhere quiet and let the light back in.
Six things you can count on
Your own bedroom in a beach home steps from the sand, or share with a friend if you’d like. Every detail is handled before you notice it, your dietary needs included.
“I never saw or felt any scramble or stress from you.” — Rooted in Peace guest
You’ll be cared for.
1
Real meals, generous and seasonal, built around what you can and can’t eat. Breath and sound for the body; lore and long-table conversation for the mind.
“Healthy but not like health food.” — Rooted in Peace guest
You’ll be well fed, in every sense.
2
Join what calls to you, and share as much or as little as you like. There are long open stretches for the beach, a nap, or a tarot deck on the porch.
“There was never any pressure to do so, just opportunity.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Everything is optional.
3
Rooted in nature’s rhythms.
4
Each retreat follows the sky: the moon’s phases, the turn of the seasons, and the old stories women have told about both. We plant, we walk the shore, we gather when the light shifts.
“Ana did a masterful job of articulating the themes of the retreat without belaboring it.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Never more than ten women, so everyone is known by name by Friday morning. Most guests arrive as strangers. Many leave as friends.
“I felt something new is forged amongst all of us.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Small by design.
5
A certified coach as your host, and experienced practitioners leading breath, sound, and movement. Thoughtful structure underneath, so you can simply be there.
“I also felt individually seen, supported, and valued.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Gently guided.
6
The world gets small, in the best way.
For three nights, there’s nowhere else to be. We stay put on purpose: the house, the shore, and each other.
Breathwork: somatic breath sessions guests rank as the heart of the weekend.
Yoga & sound bath: gentle movement and sound to settle a busy mind into a quiet body.
The ocean: morning walks, cold dips, and long stretches of doing nothing at all.
Ritual & lore: seasonal rituals and the stories behind them, offered lightly.
Making: small handmade pieces you take home to keep your practice close.
The long table: shared meals where the best conversations of the weekend happen.
“I was super happy to have the world reduced to just being there, together.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Shimmer might be for you if…
You’re usually the one holding everything together, and you’d like a few days where someone holds it for you.
You want real depth, but opening up to strangers doesn’t come easily.
You’re in a season of change (a new role, a new chapter, a quiet question) and want room to hear yourself think.
You’re curious about moon cycles, ritual, and old stories, without wanting to be lectured.
You need rest, and you’d also like to come home with something that lasts.
You’re coming alone, or with a friend. Both work beautifully.
It’s probably not for you if you’re after a party weekend or a packed sightseeing trip, or if you need clinical or therapeutic support right now. Shimmer is restorative and coaching-informed, not therapy, and I’m glad to point you toward the right kind of help.

Thursday, March 18 – Sunday, March 21, 2027 · Atlantic Beach, NC
By late March, we’re all ready for it: warmth in the air, the first green on the trees, early bulbs pushing up, and evenings that stretch a little longer each week. This is a weekend to meet that turn on purpose.
On Saturday, March 20, day and night stand equal for a moment before the light takes over. We’ll spend the weekend around that turning point: what’s ready to wake up in you, what you’ll carry into the brighter half of the year, and what you can leave behind with winter.
Sound is at the center of this one, with a sunset yoga and sound bath by the water. And the Libra full moon rises the Monday after, so you’ll carry the weekend home and close it under the full moon on your own.
We gather at Sunshine Daydream, my home at Tar Landing, and the community clubhouse for every meal and session. Arrive after 3 pm Thursday; depart by noon Sunday.
What’s included: three nights in a beach home with your own bedroom (share with a friend if you like); all meals, snacks, and drinks built around your dietary needs; sunset yoga and sound bath with experienced practitioners; equinox rituals, lore, and time to reflect; hands-on sessions and keepsakes to take home; gentle coaching woven through the weekend; a curated playlist for the drive there and back.
Investment: [YOUR PRICE] · [Shared-room rate, if offered] · Never more than ten guests. Most rooms have a private bath; a few share with one other guest.
“Starting Thursday night is a good way to build that foundation within the group so we can start Friday morning with some of it already in place.” — Rooted in Peace guest
Hi, I’m Ana.
I spent more than twenty years building premium spirits and consumer brands, which taught me a lot about hospitality and a great deal about details. Then I followed the hummingbirds out of corporate life and founded Hummingbird, where I coach women through big transitions.
Shimmer brings both sides together. I’m an ICF-certified coach, so I’ll ask good questions and notice what’s underneath. I’m also the one making sure the tea is hot and your favorite snack is in the pantry.
My job is to hold the structure, so you don’t have to hold anything at all.
“The Rooted in Peace retreat exceeded my high expectations. Ana thought of every detail to curate an experience that nurtures connection and interpersonal growth. From bespoke, impactful sessions to fantastic food and dips in the ocean, I enjoyed every moment. Most importantly, I came home excited to apply what I learned!”
